The ability to transfer work in profress from an iOS device to a Mac or vice versa. The iOS device must be running iOS 8 or newer and the Mac must run OS X 10.10 Yosemite. Even if your Mac can run Yosemite, Apple only supports the more recent Macs when it comes to handoff. These are: • MacBook Air (Mid 2012 and later) • MacBook Pro (Mid 2012 and later) • iMac (Late 2012 and later) • Mac mini (Late 2012 and later) • Mac Pro (Late 2013) These supported models all have the required hardware needed for handoff to function, namely Bluetooth 4.0 LE. Handoff works with Mail, Safari, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Maps, Messages, Reminders, Calendar, and Contacts.
