If you own an Apple TV (2nd Generation or newer), AirPlay allows you wirelessly stream content to your HDTV. AirPlay can work in a few different ways. 1. Stream content from iTunes on your Mac to your Apple TV. 2. Mirror your Mac display to the Apple TV or use your Apple TV as a second screen. There are more options but as they do not pertain to the Mac but iOS, we'll leave those out. To stream iTunes contents to your Apple TV you need a Mac that can run iTunes 10.2 or newer (so a Mac that can handle Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard). To use the mirroring and second display features you need one of these supported Mac models: • iMac (Mid 2011 or newer) • Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer) • MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer) • MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer) • Mac Pro (Late 2013) with OS X Mountain Lion or later. |
