Memory (RAM) |
Your Mac will greatly benefit from adding more RAM. Applications will work faster, more applications can run simultaneously, switching between applications is faster... There are no downsides to maxing out your RAM. A good way to find out how much RAM you need (if upgrading to the maximum possible is not an option at this time): • Take the minimum system requirements for the OS you want to run or are currently running. • Add to that the minimum requirements for the software you use the most. • Add to that whatever you can afford/squeeze in there. For example; OS X 10.9 Mavericks needs a minimum of 2GB RAM. Adobe Photoshop CS 6 needs at least 1GB RAM. So that's 3GB total just to run your OS and Photoshop. And that's the bare minimum. For good performance Adobe recommends 4GB RAM or more. You can do your research and get exactly what you need but the truth is, you can never have enough RAM. If your wallet allows it, max it out. Check out the parts vendors we have partnered up with as they might have some great deals on memory modules.
